2023 Harvest Update

Winemaker John Giannini gives us his initial impressions of the 2023 vintage. Read his notes below. 

"Harvest has finally graced us, and the unfolding story of our vines this year has been nothing short of poetic. The journey began with our signature stages - bud break, bloom, and veraison - setting their own unique rhythm, finishing with an October crescendo. Our vineyards' lush canopies have showcased resilience, ensuring wines that resonate with the audacity and complexity of Mt Veeder's spirit. 

Our yields this year have been generous, landing somewhere between the bounty of 2018 and the restraint of 2022. Mother Nature was our ally, with no severe heat spikes or weather challenges, providing us with fruits that shimmer with integrity and richness. 

The Cabernet Sauvignon from the Rosenquist vineyard has graced our palates, setting a remarkable precedent. Following this, the Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from North Ranch have added layers of complexity, with depth of concentration in our Winery Ranch fruit delivering a stunning conclusion to this harvest season."
